Passage Read: 2 Chronicles 30-33
Meditation Verses: 32:22-26
Thought
Hezekiah experienced some great things from the Lord, specifically deliverance from the Assyrians and personal healing with a miraculous sign. After all his faithfulness, he seems to have lost sight of the cause of his blessing: the God he promoted! He didn't thank the Lord. Perhaps he thought it was all because of his righteousness, that somehow he was the cause, because he became full of himself! David diligently obeyed and honored the Lord, and often asked the Lord to deal with him according to the cleanness of his hands. When the Lord delivered him, he recognized that the Lord had done it, even if it was in response to David's obedience.
Application
The Lord has done such wonders for me, I want to honor Him with all possible diligence, to please Him in every good work, to do His will so obediently that those around me would marvel at Him. But I don't want to grow proud and forget that it is the Lord I serve and who blesses me. Even if He blesses me according to my righteousness, I need to remember that He blesses me out of His goodness, and He still deserves all glory and honor.
