Passage Read: 2 Chronicles 2-5
Meditation Verses: 2:5-6
Thought
The Lord God is greater than all gods, which is why there is no image of Him in His own house. He cannot be contained within any structure on earth, so the best anyone can do is build a building in which to offer incense and set out the showbread. Any other god has an idol to represent them; they can be captured by a likeness that fits within their temple or shrine. But not the Lord. Our God truly is greater than all gods, and Solomon unabashedly tells that to Huram. Huram, interestingly, wasn't offended, but blessed the Lord God of Israel and confessed that the Lord made heaven and earth. Did Huram believe or did he just honor a "customer" or a more powerful king than him?
Application
If I truly believe that God is greater than all gods, then I should have no problem telling that to others, even people who believe in other gods. My God can protect me from the wrath of any other god or of any other people. And those people need to hear that testimony, even if the Lord gives me into their power to destroy. I shouldn't be ashamed or afraid to declare that my God is greater than all gods.
