Thought
If this happened in Israel, how much more can it happen here and now, in God's own church? Do we all speak peace and prosperity, while God has forsaken us because of our godlessness? Can we tell the difference between worldly prosperity and God's blessing? Can we tell when God is displeased with us? Would we recognize when He has removed His presence and blessing? Can we see it through the riches of our day? Sodom and Gomorrah were rich and at ease, and they polluted their own once good land. Have we done the same? Is anyone asking where God is? Does anyone feel like He is far from us? If not, we are closer to our doom than we realize.
Application
Can I tell the difference between prosperity from Satan meant to distract me or give me a false sense of security? I only want the real thing. I don't want to be blinded and miss that God is no longer pleased with me. I want God's blessing alone. So I need to check myself. Am I walking in genuine faith in God and His Word? Am I doing what He wants or am I doing what I want with the blessing of others? Where are You, Lord? Are You with me or have I wandered away? Let me be diligent to love Your voice, listen to Your Words and do Your will.
