Thought
What's the use of speaking God's Truth when there are so many more false prophets and teachers spewing lies that overwhelm God's message? Those false teachers will be destroyed, but the real sad thing is when such a thing happens, when false teachers and false prophets far outnumber true, then the Lord has given up this people to destruction. Both false teacher and the people will be destroyed, because the people love those false teachers and refuse to believe the one messenger who is trying to warn them to turn from their evil ways. The people also will be thrown out and destroyed.
Application
Even when no one will listen, even when the one messenger who speaks the truth is ignored, despised, cursed and even plotted against, even then the people need a testimony, so that when disaster does overtake them, those who survive might come to realize how wrong they were and what God's real message is. There may not be any survivors, but still they need a witness against them for the time of their judgment, so that God is proved right when He judges. If the people are rejected, they still need someone to testify why they will be overthrown. It is easy to wonder if I have the message right, when it seems so contrary to what everyone else is doing and saying, but a call to repentance and greater holiness is always right and good, and that kind of message is all throughout Scripture.
