Thought
The more a man seeks and believes the Lord and walks in His ways, the more men are divided for and against him. Even those among his brothers are revealed as loving or disdaining the Lord. Some who claim to love the Lord will be offended by the one who gives up control of his life to the Lord, and of course all those who hate the Lord will reject him. They will mock him and call for the Lord to show His mighty power, but it is His grace that He has not yet done so. For when He comes in power, He will destroy all those who hate Him. All those who mocked Him will be put to shame, and will suffer a violent end and eternal torment.
Application
There are many who consider themselves wise and enlightened. They think that because they get away with all kinds of evil that the Lord is a figment of ancient man's imagination, and only fools believe in Him today. And that is how God wants it, that salvation comes by faith alone. So it should not surprise any believer when men are offended by the truth of God and His requirement of righteousness. The more I commit myself to walk in Jesus' ways and proclaim His truth, the more men will hate and mock me. It is not my responsibility to bring men to repentance, but only to proclaim His testimony before them. I want all to repent and be saved, but more will reject the Lord and His right to rule than will accept it. The more I testify against this generation, the more I will be hated by it.
