Passage Read: Ezekiel 20-23
Meditation Verses: 23:46-49

Thought

The destruction of Israel and Judah is a warning to all nations, to all those who will claim the Lord as their own God. They must not turn away from Him or worship other gods as Israel and Judah did. They must not look to other nations, mightier than them, and trust them for deliverance. If you believe in the Lord, then believe who He is and what He stands for, and trust Him with your life. If you claim to believe in Him but live by the world's wisdom, you are a false believer! You are profaning the name of the Lord, and He will do to you what He did to Israel and Judah.

Application

The nations who believe in the Lord are the nations where the Gospel has gone to. Before, only Israel and Judah believed in the Lord, and a few scattered people among the nations. But now, the Gospel has gone forth from Jerusalem, and very many nations have turned to the Lord. It is those nations who must take warning from the example of Israel and Judah, Oholah and Oholibah. It is us who have believed in Jesus. He is still a jealous God and will not tolerate a false faith that doesn't trust Him with our life. If I believe in the Lord, then I need to live by His ways and believe that He is able to deliver and provide and bless me in my obedience and trust in Him. I need to not trust in men or their wisdom. I need to be careful not to trust in anyone or anything to save and prosper and provide for me, but the Lord. If I will not believe and trust Him, I will not walk in His ways. I'll look to men and do what they tell me, and I will be lost.
