Meditation Verse: 20:1
Thought
There is no condition on this, only that they go out to war, for whatever reason. They are not to be afraid because the Lord is with them. But if they have sin or some indecency, they will not enjoy the Lord's blessing on their efforts. They need to clear up any problem. But otherwise, they should not be afraid to face their enemies because the Lord is with them.
Application
I should have much more confidence when facing any challenge, because I know the Lord is with me, as a believer. There is no distinction regarding what challenge I face, but only whether I am walking in obedience to the Lord and not overlooking any of His expectations or requirements. While the Lord certainly allows suffering even in obedience, I shouldn't be afraid and I should shrink back because of fear. Rather, all I need to do is make sure I'm not in sin or in any way indecent or improper in my ways, then I can have confidence that the Lord is with me in what I'm doing and I should not be afraid. I can and should hope for victory.
