Thought
One day, the wrath of God will be poured out on all the wicked of the earth, rich and poor, powerful and insignificant, everyone who didn't think it worthwhile to believe and obey the Son of God. And that's after God sends a conqueror to conquer, murderous rage between peoples, famine and death and plague and wild beasts that will kill a fourth of the world! Even before the wrath of God formally falls on the earth, a quarter of the earth will be killed by "natural" and man-made causes. Then signs will appear in the sky, including and especially the rapture, and all who remain will know that the wrath of God is now come upon them. They will have no doubt, because they have always known the truth but suppressed it by their evil deeds. They knew all along they were rejecting God, and now their day of judgment has come. They will know exactly what is happening and why.
Application
Those who boldly reject, those who "innocently" reject God, they all know what they're doing; they're not innocent or ignorant. One of the jobs of the Holy Spirit is to convict the world of sin and righteousness and judgment. I don't need to convince people of their guilt; I only need to point it out. The Spirit does the rest, either leading people to repent or to harden themselves knowingly against the truth. When they depart this life and enter their torment they know exactly why they're suffering. I can feel bad for them, but I can't think that they didn't understand what they were doing.
