Thought
There will still be nations and kings in the new heavens and earth, people groups and tribes and clans and families. Perhaps there will also be leaders of tens and fifties and hundreds and thousands. Perhaps there will be mayors and leaders of five cities and ten cities and governors, as well as kings. Over all will be Jesus and His Father. And the nations will have their special products, their glory and honor and splendor, a portion of which they will bring to the Lord year by year or month by month or as often as they desire to come before Him. So there will still be industry or agriculture, there will still be things to do. And there will be worship of the Lord, and only righteousness, no more wickedness.
Application
Life in the new heavens and earth will likely be what God intended from the beginning, with the creation of Adam. Adam was supposed to be head over all his kind and over all the creatures God had made, to live forever and lead his people to serve and worship the Lord, and care for His creation. Life wasn't meant to be difficult, but to tend the garden and enjoy is fruit, and enjoy one another, and learn and serve and worship the Lord. That may sound boring to some, but it is interesting that many cultures on earth do value relationship more than busyness, and they are perhaps more happy and content than my own. There can still be much to learn and explore and discover of all the world of God, but there will be no pressure or time constraints. There will be no more greed or envy, because there will be plenty of time to build and study and master all kinds of arts and crafts and abilities. And it will all be to the glory of God and His original purpose for all mankind. That is a very good thing to look forward to! Truly a rest, a relaxing retirement.
