Passage Read: Mark 3-4
Meditation Verses: 4:38-40
Thought
This is convicting. How many things do I worry about? How many things am I afraid of, things that may go wrong (or not), things that may cause me trouble (or not). Jesus' disciples were in a real storm in the middle of the Sea of Galilee. They were all afraid, even the fishermen who knew the sea best. They could very well drown. But when they wake Jesus, after He calms the storm, He asks why they were afraid. "Do you still have no faith?" No faith, not even a little. They had seen Jesus do miracles, but they didn't yet understand that He was actually God in human form. I know that! Why do I fear anything? Why do I worry about anything? Because of the littleness of my faith. Or do I have no real faith?
Application
I want to have faith. I want to believe. I want to be fearless, except to offend God. Whether driving in a strange place or visiting a strange country or trying something new for God, I want to trust in Him to do with me as He pleases. It may be death, but why should I fear that? It more likely will be just fine. No death, no destruction. Maybe no fruit. Maybe people won't like it, but why should I be afraid of that? God help me!
