Passage Read: Psalm 47-50
Meditation Verses: 50:16-17
Thought
The wicked are not just those who know nothing and care nothing about the Lord, but there is also a kind of wicked man who knows the Law and the promises of God well enough to tell them to others. They use them to rebuke others, to teach others, to appear spiritual, but they do not do them. They hate rebuke and discipline. They have no intention to submit to God's Word. They know God's commands but they violate them without fear and without thought. They think they are safe because they can mouth all the right words, but they are doomed because they do not walk according to God's instructions.
Application
Salvation is for those who order their ways according to God's directives and character. Salvation belongs to those who humble themselves and submit to God, who fear Him and listen to Him to do things according to His Word. Those who learn the words of God but do not do them, those who know the ways of God but live contrary to them are still counted among the wicked. Righteousness and salvation are not merely about what I can confess and repeat, but about how I live. I cannot claim to belong to the Lord if I do not submit to and follow His ways; I'm only deceiving myself.
