George and Rachel outside our new home
We’ve arrived safely in Bosnia! We’re at the school and settling in. We have a lovely two-bedroom apartment, fully furnished! And we’ve already enjoyed one full night’s sleep.
We flew into neighboring Croatia and were picked up by the school’s local Bosnian partner. A quick drive up the coast, a turn inland and we exited Croatia and entered Bosnia. The trip from the airport in Dubrovnik to our apartment in Trebinje was quick and beautiful!

Next Steps
We’ve already unpacked and settled our things. Next is to get over jet-lag and learn the lay of the land. My gut feeling has me entirely turned around: What my head says is north is actually south! We need to find stores and figure out what to buy to make the apartment our own. We also need to decide what foodstuffs we need for between (school-provided) meals and for hosting guests. (Rachel’s already been invited to make desserts for the cafeteria whenever she wants!)
I found out that one of the privileges/responsibilities of my role is to drive the students in our care to shop each week. Yeah! Driving in Bosnia looks way easier than driving in the Dominican Republic, so that should be fun!
We can already see that there will be a lot of fun things about being here, interacting with the students. We know there will be tough times and hard stories to hear, but the students are asking great questions! We look forward to being a resource and partner with them in discovering God and His will for our lives on this earth!
Points for Prayer
Settling into our new home, timezone and role
Learning student names and faces!
A work visa so we can serve in Bosnia through the full school year
We won’t put you through the jet-lag and shopping stuff, but we’ll do what we can to bring you into everything else! I was just asked about proofs for Noah’s flood and where fossils came from! Like I said, fun stuff!
Thank you for praying and supporting our journey out here! Now the real work begins! As always, we’ll need you every step of the way!
