Our Student Life Team

We have some significant changes to announce. The writing has been on the wall for months, but as of this week, decisions have finally been made.

Old School

Our school will be closing here in Bosnia at the end of this month, but reopening later in Uganda. Our Student Life team has decided not to follow, but rather to do something new.

New School

Since leaving China, my personal desire has been to train more laborers for the international harvest field. I had hoped this school would lead to new laborers, and we trust seeds have been planted that the Lord will in time bring to fruition. But with the closing of this campus and the fellowship we have enjoyed with our Student Life team, we have decided to set up our own training center, beginning with this small core of people and a few interested students.

We have great favor with the school’s landlord, and he will let us continue to use as much of the remaining properties as needed. So the physical infrastructure is set, as are the first batch of students.

What we’ll need is ministry practice locations.  We desire to set up short-term mission trips, both for ourselves and to offer them as packages for interested churches. One of our students has a desire to start a tour agency of sorts, for Christians to visit historical sites and find encouragement for their faith. That has been a big help to her own faith. We hope to develop that vision both as a source of secondary income, and as a springboard for short-term missions projects.

We have already been planning two summer English camps for July and August. Once those are complete, we’ll turn our attention to our own training program, to begin formally in September.

New Daughter-in-Law

The most exciting news is that another son is getting married, but I need to let him officially break that news. The wedding will be this summer, and we plan to be there. Afterward, Micah and Victory will join Timothy in the Dominican Republic at Doulos Discovery School. Check out Micah’s support page below:

Grateful for You

I wish I could say we were conferring a kingdom on you who have stood by us through all our changes (Luke 22:28-30). But you already have that! We trust the Lord will pile on your eternal treasure in return for your faithful support of us!

Some ways you can help us make these plans a reality, if God so leads you:

  • Pray! (see below)
  • We could use help with plane tickets (about $4,000 these days for the three of us to return for the wedding)
  • English-speaking Ministry Connections (we would like to build a contact list of ministries in the region where we can practice as we progress through our training)

We’re unexpectedly hearing from former students who are interested in our training plans, and parents who are asking how they can support our new project! So we are encouraged and excited to see what God has in store!

Points for Prayer

  • Close this school well: Complete an abbreviated semester, then get all students packed and safely returned home by the end of April

  • Plane tickets for Micah’s wedding

  • Complete preparations for two local summer English camps

  • Organize our new training program and prepare the curriculum, ministry projects and tour plans
