Passage Read: Job 37-40
Meditation Verses: 40:1-5
Thought
Job was afraid that if God came near to answer him, He would overwhelm him by His power and presence. And sure enough, that's what God did. But God can't help it, unless He clothes Himself in human flesh and conceals all His glory. God is God, and we are dust and ashes. We don't understand how much greater He is than us, and yet we dare to question and criticize His rule over mankind. God has every right to be offended by a lowly creature like us that questions His plans and purposes. Who are we compared to Him? What have we created? What have we done? We are God's creation, to do with as He pleases. We are nothing but what He makes us to be. We have no value, no standing, but what He gives us.
Application
Who am I to find fault with anything God does? Who am I to find fault with what He has made me to be or what He ordains for my life? I am His, designed to bring Him glory and honor even if all He does is give me life! What do I have that was not given by others, by God? Every good and perfect gift comes from God, and even evil cannot touch me unless He permits it. Job had it right in the beginning: Whether good or evil comes upon me, God is in control and I must honor Him and seek His purposes in both. My life is not to complain, but to bring God glory and honor by what I plan and by how respond to anything and everything.
