Passage Read: Psalm 3-6
Meditation Verses: 4:2-5

Thought

David calls out worldly men and questions what they value and how they pursue it. They mock his submission and obedience to God. The Lord's graciousness to him is a reproach to them, because they love the world and scheme to attain worthless things. But God loves the godly man and listens to his prayers. That should be rebuke enough for them to fear the Lord, to keep from sin and to learn God's Word and ways. They should see clearly the importance of living righteously and trusting in the Lord.

Application

My life is to be a rebuke to those who live for lesser things. It's not material blessing that rebukes others, but God's gracious favor and the righteousness I walk in. These should give me confidence to call worldly men out from their worldliness--not that I'm rich, but that God is near to me and cares for me. God's favor to me should encourage others to turn to the Lord, trust in Him and learn to walk in His ways. If I am truly enjoying God's favor, I should have confidence to call others to leave off worthless things and pursue the Lord and His ways.
