Passage Read: 2 Kings 20-23
Meditation Verse: 23:3
Thought
Josiah didn't just say the right words, he zealously followed through with action, decisive and dramatic action. He tore down altars and idols and sacred stones. He burned images and objects of worship that were not in accordance with the Law. He took the Law seriously, even killing the priests of foreign gods. He wasn't ashamed of hesitant. He read the Law and acted on it.
Application
This is the confidence I want to have, to do whatever the Word of God commands, no matter how weird or how weird it will make me look in the eyes of even other believers. I hesitate out of fear of misapplying God's Word or offending those around me. I'm so concerned about what others think; I don't want to be too different. Will God correct me if I'm a little off? I know other believers will question me, and I should consider what they have to say, but we have watered down the Word so much that other believers are the reason I hesitate! I want to lose my dignity as David did. I want to speak and act as Josiah did.
